The Nanaimo Tidesmen

The Central Island's a capella male chorus

The Tidesmen Chorus is a men's a cappella singing group that has been continuously active since its founding in 1973. We draw our membership from central Vancouver Island - from the Nanaimo, Ladysmith, Parksville and Qualicum Beach areas.

Our all-male choral sound features soaring voices, ringing chords, and thrilling close harmony. We strive for excellence in a fun, challenging, and supportive environment. Our uplifting repertoire includes Broadway standards, pop, rock and roll, inspirational songs, and barbershop favourites.

During the year, we participate in sing-outs throughout the community. Many members also take part in quartets that perform all year round.

We take pride in serving and m
aking a positive contribution to our community. Since 1996 we have supported the Nanaimo Child Development Centre’s (NCDC) services for children with special needs, donating in excess of $30,000. We also provide bursaries each year to one or more deserving music students to help fund their further education.

The Tidesmen meet and practice at Costin Hall in Lantzville most Mondays of the year. We warmly welcome new members. Through the Tidesmen, you have the opportunity to attend social and educational Barbershop Harmony events on Vancouver Island and elsewhere in the Pacific Northwest. If you would like to attend one of our rehearsals as a guest just to check us out, click here to learn how.
